During the recent Seventh Day Baptist World Federation (SDBWF) Sessions in Malawi, a significant need was highlighted by the Mozambican SDB Conference: pastors lacked transportation to visit churches in their area. In response, the gathered SDB conferences collectively raised funds to purchase a motorbike for the Mozambican conference. This significant contribution will enhance the mobility and outreach capabilities of the Mozambican pastors. Then when we arrived in Brazil we shared some of the highlights of the sessions and the Seventh Day Baptist churches of Bocaiúva do Sul and Joinville in Brazil united to make a difference and reach even more pastors.

Bernardo Damião, Secretary of the Mozambican Conference, shared the uplifting news of the generous contribution from these Brazilian churches. Thanks to the funds raised, 24 bicycles were purchased to support pastors in their ministry. 14 of these bicycles, delivered to the Malema District on March 16th, demonstrate this impactful gesture. See the pictures below.

The bicycles will not only help pastors move around more easily but also enable them to reach remote areas, including regions affected by terrorism like the province of Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique. The pastors are deeply grateful for the support, emphasizing how important this assistance is in their challenging circumstances.

The Mozambican SDB Conference currently has 7,156 members across 129 churches, served by 33 pastors. Providing bicycles and a motorbike will greatly improve their ministry and outreach efforts, allowing them to better serve their communities and spread the message of hope and faith.

Moreover, the Brazilian churches gave hundreds of theological books and Bibles to the Mozambican brothers during the WF Sessions. This generous gift will support the pastors and their congregations in deepening their theological knowledge and spiritual growth.

This initiative shows the spirit of unity and compassion within the Seventh Day Baptist community, crossing geographical boundaries to make a real difference in the lives of pastors and congregations in Mozambique. As we celebrate this generous act, let's be inspired to continue supporting our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide.

We praise the Lord for the efforts of the Brazilian Seventh Day Baptist churches and the blessings they have provided to their Mozambican counterparts. Let’s be encouraged to help wherever possible, knowing that even small acts of kindness can significantly impact others' lives.

Let's keep the Mozambican pastors and churches in our prayers, standing with them as they continue their vital work of spreading the gospel and serving their communities.

Next Steps

The Brazilian Conference now aims to raise funds to purchase a laser printer and a computer for the Mozambican conference. This will enable them to print and distribute the Quarterly Bible Study Book, the "Brazilian Helping Hand," more efficiently.

With gratitude and praise,
